Rohmalia of Indonesia sets new women's T20I record, taking 7 wickets for no runs on debut

This phenomenal bowling feat shattered the previous record held by Dutch cricketer Frederique Overdijk, who had bagged 7 wickets for 3 runs against France in a T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier match back in 2021. Rohmalia’s remarkable debut also puts her in elite company as only the third bowler in women’s T20I history to achieve the milestone of seven wickets in a match, joining the ranks of Overdijk and Argentina’s Alison Stocks.

Indonesia batted first in the encounter, setting a target of 151 for 5 on the board, with opener Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini leading the way with a well-made 61. However, it was Rohmalia’s exceptional bowling that became the defining story of the match. She sent shivers down the spines of the Mongolian batters, starting with a wicket off her very first delivery and proceeding to dismiss all seven batters she faced, leaving their scorecard barren at a staggering 0/7.

This exceptional debut performance by Rohmalia is a glowing testament to her talent and immense potential. She has undoubtedly announced herself as a rising star in the world of women’s cricket, and we can expect to hear much more from her in the future.
