The Multan Sultans secured their place in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final for a remarkable fourth consecutive time with a dominant seven-wicket victory over Peshawar Zalmi in the qualifier. The 2021 champions, Sultans, displayed their power, outclassing Zalmi who now have one last shot at the final through Monday’s eliminator against the winner of the Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators clash.

Setting the tone for the Sultans was a solid opening partnership between Yasir Khan and captain Mohammad Rizwan. Khan shone with a match-winning half-century off just 30 balls. Despite the absence of key player Naveen-ul-Haq, Zalmi’s bowlers were unable to contain the Sultans’ chase of their below-par total of 146-7.
Earlier, Zalmi faced a double threat from pace and spin. David Willey and Mohammad Ali provided early breakthroughs for the Sultans. While Babar Azam top-scored for Zalmi with a knock of 46, their batting faltered against the spin duo of Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed. Zalmi only managed a meager 38 runs in the final five overs, further restricted by the variations in Chris Jordan’s bowling.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Last Chance:
This convincing win puts the Sultans in a strong position to defend their title. However, Peshawar Zalmi will have their eyes set on a comeback in the eliminator, aiming to reach the final and challenge the Sultans’ dominance in the PSL 2024 playoffs.
