South African fast bowler Shabnim Ismail has set a new milestone in women’s cricket, clocking a delivery at 132.1kph in a WPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Shabnim Ismail, known for her express pace, achieved this feat in the second delivery of the third over, bowling to Capitals’ captain Meg Lanning.

Despite her remarkable speed, Shabnim Ismail remained focused on her game, stating that she doesn’t pay attention to the big screen while bowling. This isn’t the first time Ismail has showcased her speed, as she previously recorded a delivery at 128.3kph in the opening game of the tournament.
Despite facing challenges, Shabnim Ismail struggled with her line and length, conceding runs and enduring consecutive sixes by Shafali Verma. However, she still managed to claim a wicket, finishing with figures of 1 for 46 from her four overs.
Ismail, who retired from international cricket in May 2023, had a distinguished career spanning 16 years, representing South Africa in 241 matches across formats. She remains active in T20 leagues worldwide, continuing to make her mark in the game she loves.
