McLaren Formula 1 Team has officially announced a multi-year contract extension with British driver Lando Norris, solidifying their long-term partnership beyond the previously agreed-upon commitment until the end of the 2025 season.
Norris, who initially signed a four-year agreement in February 2022, has been a part of the McLaren family since joining as a junior driver in 2017. The latest contract extension reflects the team’s confidence in Lando Norris and their shared commitment to achieving success in Formula 1.
The 24-year-old driver experienced his most successful season in 2023, securing sixth place in the Drivers’ Championship with 205 points. Norris achieved notable performances, including six second-place finishes and a podium appearance at the British Grand Prix, making him the first McLaren driver to stand on the Silverstone podium since 2010. He also secured a third-place finish in the Qatar Grand Prix and two sprint race podiums.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Norris stated, “It’s a great feeling to be staying in papaya. I’ve grown up with McLaren and feel at home here, the team are like family to me. The journey so far has been exciting, we’ve had ups and downs, but last season showed our desire to get back to competing at the front of the grid.”
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown expressed his delight about continuing the partnership, acknowledging Norris’s commitment to pushing the team forward. Team Principal Andrea Stella highlighted Norris’s growth as both a driver and a person since joining McLaren in 2017.
The extension of the partnership with Norris reinforces McLaren’s focus on progress and competitiveness, aiming to achieve podiums and, ultimately, championship success in the future.
