Formula One has intervened following the resale of tickets for its highly anticipated 75th anniversary launch event at inflated prices, urging fans not to purchase tickets from unauthorized platforms.

The event, set for 18 February 2025 at The O2 Arena in London, will mark the beginning of Formula One’s 75th anniversary celebrations. For the first time in the sport’s history, all 10 F1 teams—Alpine, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Haas, Kick Sauber, McLaren, Mercedes, Racing Bulls, Red Bull, and Williams—along with their drivers and Team Principals, will gather with fans for a night to unveil their 2025 season liveries and introduce their driver line-ups.

Produced by creative visionary Brian Burke, who previously orchestrated the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, the event promises a dynamic evening featuring key interviews with F1 figures, entertainment, and guest presenters.

Tickets for the event went on sale Friday morning, generating huge demand and selling out within just an hour. However, within moments of the sale closing, tickets began reappearing on resale sites at exorbitant prices—some marked up three or four times the original cost, which ranged from £58 to £113 plus booking fees. This raised concerns that some buyers were intent on reselling tickets for profit rather than attending the event.

In response, Formula One issued a statement warning fans against purchasing tickets from unofficial resale platforms. “We are aware that a few tickets for our season launch event at The O2 have been listed on unofficial resale websites,” the statement read. “We can confirm that this is against the terms and conditions of sale, and any tickets bought through an unofficial resale platform are not valid for entry.”

The statement also highlighted that some of the tickets listed on resale sites were fraudulent. To avoid purchasing invalid tickets, Formula One urged fans to only buy tickets directly through The O2’s official website or through AXS Official Resale.

The 75th anniversary event promises to be a momentous occasion for Formula One, and organizers encourage fans to verify their tickets to avoid disappointment.
