Spanish sensation Pedro Acosta shares his behind-the-scenes reaction to joining the premier class

Pedro Acosta, the highly-touted Spanish rider, recently made his debut in the MotoGP class, describing himself as the ‘baby of the class.’ After showcasing his skills during the one-day Valencia test following the 2023 season finale, Acosta took on the challenge with the GASGAS Tech 3 KTM team.

In an unseen moment, Acosta shared his initial thoughts with his crew chief, expressing his awareness of being among the ‘big boys’ in the premier class. He humorously highlighted the adjustment of understanding the button layout on the bike and jokingly remarked, “Where the f***ing buttons are [laughs]?”

Acosta praised the bike’s performance, noting the activation of the ride-height device and expressing surprise at its speed. Despite being regarded as one of the most promising rookies, Acosta acknowledged the learning curve, emphasizing the need to comprehend the intricacies of the MotoGP machine.

With high expectations surrounding Acosta, given his rapid rise from Moto3 and Moto2 world champion to MotoGP, he remains realistic about his debut season. He mentioned seasoned riders like Pecco Bagnaia, the defending champion, and Jorge Martin as key contenders. Acosta anticipates a closely contested championship where the difference between riders is minimal, expressing his eagerness to learn from experienced competitors while aiming to make his mark on the track.

As the ‘baby of the class,’ Acosta embraces the challenges of MotoGP and looks forward to gaining valuable experience, all while maintaining a competitive spirit against the seasoned riders in the premier class.
