Dani Pedrosa anticipates that Marc Marquez will aggressively challenge Francesco Bagnaia’s dominance at Ducati when they become MotoGP teammates next season.
In 2025, Marquez and Bagnaia will form a formidable partnership in MotoGP, creating one of the most talented duos in the sport’s history. However, Ducati expects their dynamic to introduce complexities, particularly given Bagnaia’s current status as the team’s star rider, bolstered by two recent championship titles.
Pedrosa, who previously partnered with Marquez at Repsol Honda, believes that Bagnaia’s recent comments indicate tensions brewing even before Marquez joins Ducati from Gresini.
“He’s doing well at the moment within a structure tailored to his success,” Pedrosa remarked to DAZN. “His repeated assertions about maintaining the status quo, the tranquility in the garage, and the established working dynamics are passive-aggressive signals to a competitor like Marquez. Evident from the moment the contract was signed, similar incidents have occurred with Yamaha and Pramac, and with Martin at Aprilia.
Next season, both Marquez and Bagnaia will ride Ducati’s GP25, providing a level playing field. Despite Marquez currently riding the GP24, which has shown advantages over older Ducati models, Pedrosa expects Marquez, known for his dominant performances against teammates, to exert pressure on Bagnaia from the outset.
“I believe Marc will arrive and immediately aim to exploit Bagnaia’s vulnerabilities,” Pedrosa concluded.
The upcoming season promises intense competition as Marquez and Bagnaia navigate their shared journey at Ducati, setting the stage for an intriguing battle in MotoGP.
