Oliseh says Nigeria football needs rebuilding

Former Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Oliseh has called for major changes to revive Nigerian football. Speaking in a video shared online, he stressed the need for a complete review and restructuring of the national team, suggesting that a fresh approach is essential for future success.

Despite the World Cup setback, Nigeria did show some promise by reaching the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco, where they finished third. However, the failure to qualify for the biggest stage in world football remains a major concern for fans and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, DR Congo secured their place at the World Cup, marking their first appearance since 1974. They achieved this milestone by defeating Jamaica 1-0 in the inter-confederation playoff final.

As Nigeria look ahead, the focus will now be on rebuilding the squad and improving their chances in future international competitions.
