AS Roma and Juventus shared the points in a 1-1 Serie A draw on Sunday, with Eldor Shomurodov cancelling out a first-half strike by Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli.

Juventus made a bright start at the Stadio Olimpico. Timothy Weah forced a save from Roma keeper Mile Svilar early on, while Dusan Vlahovic and Bryan Cristante both had opportunities at either end. The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Locatelli pounced on a loose clearance and fired a powerful first-time shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Roma, who failed to register a single shot on target in the first half, came out with more intent after the break. Just four minutes into the second half, Evan Ndicka’s header from a corner forced a save from Juve’s Michele Di Gregorio. The rebound fell to substitute Shomurodov, who smashed it in off the crossbar from close range to level the score.
Juventus, under new manager Igor Tudor, were aiming for back-to-back wins after their 1-0 victory over Genoa last weekend. However, they were unable to break down a resilient Roma side in the second half and had to settle for a point.
With the draw, Juventus remain fifth in the Serie A table on 56 points after 31 matches, level with fourth-placed Bologna, who play Napoli next. Roma, unbeaten in the league since December, sit seventh with 53 points and still have hopes of a Champions League return for the first time since 2018.
However, their upcoming fixtures include tough tests against Lazio, Inter Milan, Atalanta, Fiorentina, and AC Milan. Their performance against Juventus shows they remain a strong contender in the race for Europe.
