India and Pakistan Clash Ends in India’s Victory

India claimed a six-wicket win over Pakistan in their Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 clash in Dubai. Pakistan batted first, posting a modest 105 for 8, with Nida Dar’s 28 being the top score. Arundhati Reddy (3 for 19) and Shreyanka Patil (2 for 12) were instrumental in dismantling Pakistan’s lineup, with Pakistan struggling on a slow, spin-friendly pitch. Reddy made key breakthroughs, dismissing Sidra Amin, Omaima Sohail, and Aliya Riaz. Patil’s clever bowling further troubled the batters, with Richa Ghosh’s excellent stumping and a diving catch adding to the pressure.

In pursuit of 106, India needed a fast chase to boost their negative net run rate but fell short of that aim. A boundary-less powerplay made the task harder, as Shafali Verma (32) and Smriti Mandhana failed to dominate Pakistan’s spinners. Mandhana’s dismissal for 4, chipping a catch to backward point, exemplified India’s early struggles. Shafali managed to hit a few boundaries but perished for 32, leaving India 58 for 2.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur played cautious knocks to inch India closer. Harmanpreet was the only batter to maintain a strike rate above 100 among the top six. However, Pakistan’s tight bowling and fielding kept the game tense. After Jemimah and Richa Ghosh were dismissed in quick succession, Harmanpreet’s composed 29* steered India to the brink of victory before she retired hurt. S Sajana, replacing the injured Pooja Vastrakar, sealed the win with a boundary in the 19th over, helping India maintain their dominance over Pakistan in T20Is.
