Paris 2024 Paralympics: Nishad Kumar Wins Silver in High Jump but Regrets Missing Gold

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nishad Kumar for winning the silver medal in the men’s high jump T47 event at the Paris Paralympics. Nishad, who also claimed second place in Tokyo three years ago, achieved his season-best with a leap of 2.04 meters to secure the silver.

In a post on his official X handle, PM Modi praised Nishad for his “remarkable achievement” and expressed India’s pride. “Congrats to @nishad_hj for his remarkable achievement in winning a Silver medal in the Men’s High Jump T47 event at the #Paralympics2024! He has shown us all that with passion and determination, everything is possible. India is elated,” PM Modi wrote.

India’s Medal Haul

India has won seven medals so far at the Paris Paralympics, including one gold, two silvers, and four bronzes. Preeti Pal made history by becoming the first-ever Indian woman athlete to win two track and field medals at the Paralympics with her bronze in the 200m T-35 race. Rubina also secured bronze in the P2 Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final with a score of 211.1 points.

Continued Success in Shooting and Shooting

Avani Lekhara continued her winning streak by clinching gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final, while Mona Agarwal took bronze in the same event. Manish Narwal won India’s first silver of the Games in the men’s P1 10m air pistol SH1 competition.
