The 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event at the Châteauroux Shooting Centre on 27 July marked the first Olympic champions of Paris 2024, following the Opening Ceremony excitement. The People’s Republic of China emerged victorious, continuing their dominance from Tokyo 2020 where they also won gold in this event. The winning duo, 19-year-old Sheng Lihao and 17-year-old Huang Yuting, proved their status as favorites by clinching the first gold of these Games.

In a thrilling final, China took an early 6-2 lead, with Sheng’s precise shooting maintaining their advantage. Despite a strong push from Republic of Korea’s Keum Jihyeon and Park Hajun, who secured silver, China held firm, finishing with a 16-12 win thanks to key shots in the closing rounds.
“I’m just happy,” Sheng Lihao said after the victory. “The match was challenging, but achieving a personal best performance made a big difference.” He added that this win is just the start of his career.
In the same event, Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev secured bronze, marking the country’s first shooting medal since 1996. “I feel perfect. This was my first Olympic competition, and winning bronze is amazing,” Satpayev remarked, celebrating Kazakhstan’s first medal of Paris 2024.
