“Give Some Credit” – Pol Espargaro Praises Brad Binder’s Consistency in 2024 MotoGP Season

KTM MotoGP test rider Pol Espargaro has called for greater recognition of Brad Binder’s 2024 season, despite the South African rider’s relatively modest results. Espargaro believes that Binder’s consistency and dedication deserve more credit, especially in a competitive MotoGP environment where maintaining steady performance is challenging.

Binder, who has been a standout figure at KTM since his 2016 Moto3 championship win, faced a challenging 2024 season. While he only secured two podiums—both during the opening round in Qatar—his consistent top-eight finishes throughout the 20-race season enabled him to finish fifth in the championship standings. This solid performance placed him two points ahead of his KTM teammate, Pedro Acosta, who secured nine podiums in his rookie season.

Espargaro, who served as an official KTM test rider in 2024, emphasized the importance of consistency in the highly competitive world of MotoGP. He praised Binder’s ability to perform under challenging circumstances and for his unwavering commitment to pushing for results.

“The most difficult thing in MotoGP is to stay consistent,” Espargaro explained in an interview during the Barcelona test. “Brad is a serious guy with amazing talent. He’s always going to give 100%. He’s never going to surrender, and that’s something amazing to witness. Even in a season where KTM wasn’t at its peak, he kept fighting for the top five in the championship, which is incredible.”

Espargaro also highlighted Binder’s personality, noting that he works hard and earns admiration not only for his racing results but also for his positive impact on team dynamics. “Brad is a very good guy for team building,” Espargaro added. “Everyone loves him, not just because of his results but also because of his humble personality, which is something very rare to find.”

Binder, who remains with the factory KTM squad until the end of 2026, will be joined by Acosta for his sophomore season in 2025. Despite a challenging year for KTM, Binder’s ability to remain competitive and maintain his position as the top non-Ducati rider in the standings is a testament to his talent and determination.
