On the final day of the Sepang MotoGP Shakedown test, Pedro Acosta, the reigning Moto2 champion, showcased his potential by topping the timesheets, despite experiencing a couple of falls.
The Spanish teenager impressed throughout the test and claimed the quickest time of the week with a lap time of 1m 58.189s. This marked Pedro Acosta’s first appearance at the top of the MotoGP timesheets. However, his successful day was not without incident, as he suffered his first premier-class fall at Turn 11 around 13:30. Fortunately, he was declared “OK” and resumed testing on his GASGAS Tech3 bike.

As the day concluded with wet conditions, Acosta experienced another fall, this time at Turn 15 in the final minutes. Once again, he escaped unharmed.
Acosta’s impressive lap time edged out KTM test rider Pol Espargaro by just 0.066s. Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) secured the third position, slightly ahead of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Yamaha). Dani Pedrosa (KTM) claimed the fourth spot, followed by Joan Mir (Repsol Honda).
New factory Yamaha rider Alex Rins and HRC’s new signing Luca Marini secured the seventh and eighth positions, respectively. Yamaha test rider Cal Crutchlow tested new bodywork, finishing ninth, while Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) rounded out the top ten.
The official Sepang test, featuring the full 2024 rider lineup, is scheduled from February 6-8 after a two-day break in track action.
