Pedro Acosta has playfully commented on his attention-grabbing overtake of the legendary Marc Marquez during the Qatar MotoGP race, drawing comparisons to Marquez’s own rise in the sport.

As a rookie, Acosta executed a daring pass on Marquez, reminiscent of Marquez’s early career feats against established icons like Valentino Rossi.

Reflecting on the moment, Acosta humorously remarked, “It seems easier on TV than how I experienced it. He did it with Rossi, and now I’ve done it. You have to be a nuisance. Stick your head out and cause a stir. It was beautiful.”

Acosta’s bold move marked a significant moment in his burgeoning career, leading to further success at the recent Portimao round where he became the third-youngest podium finisher in MotoGP history.

Expressing his joy, the 19-year-old sensation stated, “I hope everything stays as beautiful as it is now. I’m having fun and getting paid for what I do, what more could I want!”

Acosta’s rapid ascent to MotoGP resulted in a major reshuffle at KTM to accommodate his talent, displacing veteran Pol Espargaro from a full-time race seat.

Despite the adjustments, Acosta arrived at the Qatar season opener ready to seize the opportunity, showcasing his fearless approach on the track.

While Acosta faces high expectations akin to Marquez’s debut in 2013, he acknowledges the differences in machinery and competition dynamics. Nonetheless, figures like Jorge Lorenzo predict a bright future for Acosta, even suggesting a race win in his debut season.

Reflecting on his journey, Acosta highlighted his growth and maturity since entering the Championship at 16, emphasizing the learning curve and evolution he has undergone to establish himself as a formidable MotoGP contender.

Acosta’s emergence as a top-tier talent underscores the relentless drive and determination required to succeed in the fiercely competitive world of MotoGP.
