MotoGP rookie Pedro Acosta, transitioning from Moto2 as the reigning champion, plans to capture a photo of the KTM RC16’s controls after his debut test at Valencia in November. The teenager aims to familiarize himself with the range of electronic options, ride height device, and holeshot devices before the upcoming season.

As Pedro Acosta makes the leap from Moto2 as the reigning world champion to MotoGP, the young sensation is keen on mastering the intricacies of the KTM RC16. The rookie, who completed his debut test at Valencia in November, is determined to familiarize himself with the electronic controls, ride height device, and holeshot devices before the upcoming season kicks off.
Acknowledging the complexity of MotoGP technology, Acosta plans to keep a photo of the dash and buttons, ensuring that he retains the knowledge gained during the test and avoids starting from scratch in Malaysia.
Teammate Augusto Fernandez, who made a similar transition from Moto2 champion to MotoGP with GASGAS Tech3 a year earlier, playfully remarked that Acosta was ahead of him in adapting to the new controls. Fernandez noted that Acosta had already used the ride-height device, a feat Fernandez himself struggled with during his debut test.
Acosta’s impressive performance during the test saw him record a time of 1’30.4, securing the 18th position on the timesheets. Despite being a rookie, Acosta demonstrated competitiveness by finishing within 0.4 seconds of his teammate Fernandez.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Sepang Shakedown test and the official test in February, Acosta emphasizes the need for physical improvement. While he felt relatively comfortable at Valencia, he acknowledges the demanding nature of MotoGP tracks and aims to enhance his physical fitness for the rigorous 22-round season.
As Acosta prepares for his debut MotoGP season, capturing the nuances of the bike’s controls and devices provides valuable insights into the dedication and meticulous approach of the young rider.
