There’s a fresh development in Pedro Acosta’s contract situation that might see him staying with KTM even longer than anticipated.
While it’s widely known that Acosta’s current contract with KTM includes an option for an additional year, extending his tenure until the end of 2025, there are reports of a new twist. According to GPOne, KTM has put forward a new two-year contract offer to Acosta.
If Acosta agrees to these updated terms, he would be committed to KTM until the conclusion of 2026. Joining an exclusive group of riders with such lengthy contracts. This move underscores KTM’s keen interest in retaining Acosta, whom they’ve nurtured for several years.
As part of this potential deal, a promotion to KTM’s factory team from his current position with the Tech3 GASGAS team is on the table. While a mid-season switch has been ruled out. Acosta could find himself in the official team as early as next season.
Despite existing rumors linking Acosta with Honda, the young rider has shown no inclination towards such a move. His impressive debut in MotoGP, including two podium finishes in the first three races and leading at the Americas MotoGP, has solidified his position as a rising star in the sport.
Heading into this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez. Acosta carries with him the belief of many in the paddock that he’s a contender for victory. With the prospect of a lucrative contract extension from KTM looming, Acosta’s future in the sport looks increasingly promising.
