The 2025 MotoGP season is off to an exciting start, as Yamaha and Pramac have revealed their fresh new liveries for the year ahead during a special event in Malaysia.
Pramac’s New Look with Yamaha and Alpine Branding
Pramac Racing, having switched to Yamaha machinery for the first time since its inception, unveiled a striking new design featuring prominent Alpine branding. This marks a new chapter for the squad, which triumphed in the 2024 Independent Teams’ Championship and helped Jorge Martin secure the riders’ title.
The team will field an all-new rider line-up, with Jack Miller, who returns to Pramac after a previous stint with Ducati, and Miguel Oliveira, who makes the switch from Trackhouse Aprilia. The partnership with Alpine as the main sponsor also adds an exciting dimension to the team’s 2025 campaign.
Pramac also took the opportunity to unveil its Moto2 squad, with Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara riding the Pramac Yamaha Moto2 bikes. Former MotoGP rider Alex de Angelis is set to lead the team as its new boss.
Yamaha’s Rebuilding Phase and 2025 Plans
On the other hand, Yamaha enters the 2025 season with a sense of urgency to bounce back after a difficult 2024. From defending champions with Fabio Quartararo in 2022 to a season without a podium finish in 2024, the Japanese manufacturer is in a rebuilding phase.

Despite these setbacks, there were signs of progress towards the end of last season. Under the guidance of new technical director Max Bartolini, Yamaha is gearing up to debut its first-ever V4 engine this year, signaling its intention to compete more fiercely.
Fabio Quartararo, the team’s top rider despite a challenging 2024, has been secured to a two-year contract under the leadership of Lin Jarvis, who will step down from his role as team boss. The team has also brought in Alex Rins to bolster its lineup, and Yamaha has secured its first satellite team since 2022, further strengthening its lineup.
MotoGP Shakedown at Sepang and Upcoming Test Sessions
Yamaha’s race bikes have already hit the track for their shakedown session at Sepang, with race riders expected to join in later this weekend ahead of the official pre-season test from February 5-7 in Malaysia.
As of now, only two teams have yet to reveal their liveries for the 2025 season. Honda’s factory team will unveil its new design on February 1 in Indonesia, marking the first bike without a Repsol livery in over 30 years, after the team parted ways with the Spanish oil giant. LCR Honda will follow with its livery reveal on February 8 ahead of the season launch event in Bangkok.
2025 MotoGP Season Kick-Off
The 2025 season will officially begin with the Thai Grand Prix, taking place from February 28 to March 2, as the teams battle it out for the first points of the season.
