Ahead of the Spanish MotoGP at Jerez, Marc Marquez found himself in the midst of speculation linking him to a potential move to Aprilia. However, signaling his intention to remain loyal to Ducati, the eight-time world champion has acknowledged that discussions with the reigning world champion have already commenced.

Marquez’s preference appears to lean towards securing a spot in the factory team, emphasizing his desire for a switch. Since joining Ducati, he has not only adapted impressively to the bike but also fostered a positive relationship with Ducati’s key figures, particularly Gigi Dall’Igna, the team’s top executive.

While narrowly missing out on a maiden victory with Ducati at Jerez, Marquez’s rapport with Dall’Igna could prove influential in the decision-making process for Ducati’s rider lineup alongside Francesco Bagnaia.

Speaking about his future prospects, Marquez remarked, “The faster you go on track, the more options… The important thing is that the plan is going well. When there are results, the factories are contacting me. There have already been conversations. Mentally, I’m pretty clear about what I want.”

Pressed on the criteria for securing a factory ride for the 2025 season, Marquez emphasized that performance alone does not dictate the outcome. Despite encountering crashes in recent races, attributed to various factors rather than rider error, Marquez remains focused on exploring multiple options.

“It depends on everything, in general. But the important thing is that I am clear. I don’t just have one option,” Marquez elaborated.

As discussions unfold and Marquez evaluates his options, his steadfast approach and impressive track record position him as a coveted asset for any team vying for success in the fiercely competitive world of MotoGP.
