The former MotoGP champion encountered engine issues during the sprint race, hampering his performance despite finishing as the top Honda rider in 15th place. Despite Honda’s extensive overhaul of its motorcycle, no Honda rider managed to challenge for points, indicating a lack of significant progress.
Mir highlighted that the RC213V still grapples with familiar problems from last year but at an accelerated pace. He explained that while he maintains confidence in the front end, pushing harder often leads to crashes due to its limited threshold. Mir struggled to string together consistent laps due to front-end issues, affecting his ability to maximize performance.

Although Honda has improved grip compared to last year, Mir noted shortcomings in turning ability and braking performance. He emphasized the unpredictability of the bike’s behavior, particularly when riding aggressively without traffic ahead. Mir’s teammate, Luca Marini, echoed similar sentiments, expressing concerns over the bike’s handling and cornering capabilities, which hampered his pace during the race.
While European manufacturers appear to have made strides ahead of Hon-da, Marini views the closely contested field positively, seeing an opportunity for Honda to capitalize on any advancements made. Despite the challenges, Marini remains optimistic about Honda’s potential to improve and compete more effectively in the future.
