Session Highlights:
Francesco Bagnaia led the final practice session for the 2024 Austrian MotoGP at the Red Bull Ring, showcasing his dominance once again. KTM’s wild-card entry, Pol Espargaro, initially topped the session after overcoming a technical issue that had previously left him in 21st place. Bagnaia regained lead before the midway point and maintained it, with Espargaro finishing in second and Marc Marquez securing third.
Jorge Martin, the championship leader, was observed with cut on his left hand, sustained on metal piece while exiting shower. Despite this, he managed to finish fourth. Qualifying 1, which includes riders outside the top ten from Friday, will proceed with Pedro Acosta among those participating.
The weekend also sees the inclusion of wild-card test riders Pol Espargaro (KTM), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia), and Stefan Bradl (Honda). Michelin has introduced a reinforced rear tyre construction due to high tyre stress experienced at the Sachsenring.
Notably, Fabio di Giannantonio dislocated his left shoulder in Friday accident and has been declared unfit for rest of weekend.
