Ducati is actively engaged in discussions to retain both Pramac and VR46 as their satellite teams for the upcoming seasons.
While Gresini’s future as a Ducati satellite team is secure, negotiations with Pramac and VR46 are ongoing, with Ducati sporting director Mauro Grassilli expressing optimism about reaching agreements with both entities.
“We are in talks with VR46 and Pramac. Our aim is to maintain the current setup for the future,” Grassilli stated.
The contracts of Pramac and VR46 as Ducati satellite teams are set to expire at the end of the current year. Both teams have been linked with a potential move to Yamaha. Although Yamaha’s optimism about adding a satellite project to their lineup for 2025 remains.
There have been reports suggesting that VR46 rejected Yamaha’s offer, with hopes of securing a factory bike from Ducati if they decide to continue the partnership. Currently, VR46 operates with two-year-old machines.
Despite expressing their desire to renew with Ducati before the start of the 2024 season. VR46 has yet to finalize an agreement, according to reports.
Pramac, on the other hand, has an option in their existing contract to extend their partnership with. Ducati for two additional years, allowing them to retain their factory-spec bikes for 2025 and 2026. While there is confidence from Pramac’s team boss, Gino Borsoi, about reaching an agreement, it has not been formally confirmed.
Pramac also has the flexibility to explore other options if a more lucrative offer is presented. Potentially testing Yamaha’s willingness to secure their services.
