Carmelo Ezpeleta, the CEO of Dorna, addressed inquiries regarding the potential cancellation of the Kazakhstan MotoGP round.
The 2024 MotoGP calendar has already under gone a reduction from 22 rounds, as initially planned, to 21 rounds.
Argentina, originally slated as the third round on April 5-7, has been removed from the schedule due to budgetary constraints imposed by the nation’s government.
However, there are also apprehensions surrounding the Kazakhstan round, scheduled as the eighth round on June 16.
The event is still contingent on contractual agreements and homologation. Last year, the Kazakhstan round faced cancellation.
When questioned about the likelihood of the MotoGP season proceeding with 21 rounds, including the Kazakhstan event, Ezpeleta expressed optimism but noted uncertainties.
“I hope so,” he stated to Marca. “But that cannot be guarantee entirely.”

Carmelo Ezpeleta elaborated on the cancellation of the Argentina round, citing concerns about ensure smooth logistics for subsequent races, particularly the following round in Austin.
Regarding potential cancellations, Ezpeleta indicated that any removed rounds might not be replaced. He emphasized the importance of maintain a balance race calendar, with 21 rounds being deemed sufficient.
While Hungary serves as the official reserve location for the 2024 MotoGP season, its likelihood of hosting remains uncertain.
