Over his illustrious 13-year MotoGP career from 2006 to 2018, Dani Pedrosa shared the track with legendary teammates like Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner, Marc Marquez, and Andrea Dovizioso at Repsol Honda.
Despite not clinching a MotoGP championship himself, Dani Pedrosa’s tenure saw him achieve 31 race victories and secure three runner up finishes in the championship in 2007, 2010, and 2012.
Reflecting on his time alongside these remarkable riders, Pedrosa shared his admiration for each of them during an interview on the MotoGP podcast ahead of his wild-card return at Jerez.
Pedrosa praised Hayden’s unwavering competitiveness, describing him as a tenacious competitor who never backed down from a challenge. He also highlighted Hayden’s exceptional character, making him a respected figure within the team.
Regarding Stoner, Pedrosa acknowledged his extraordinary talent and the difficulty in surpassing him on the track. Despite Stoner’s fierce competitiveness, Pedrosa fondly remembers him as a genuinely nice person off the track.
Pedrosa also recognized Marquez’s exceptional competitiveness, coupled with his positive demeanor. Despite their intense battles on the track, Pedrosa emphasized Marquez’s character as a good person, contributing to a healthy team dynamic.
Dovizioso, too, earned Pedrosa’s praise for his amiable personality and professional demeanor within the team. Pedrosa credited Dovizioso for his positive impact and camaraderie within the Repsol Honda squad.
When pressed to name the best teammate among them, Pedrosa expressed gratitude for the valuable lessons learned from both Marquez and Stoner. However, he refrained from elevating one above the other, highlighting the unique contributions of each teammate to his growth as a rider.
Since retiring from full-time racing in 2018, Pedrosa has continued his involvement in MotoGP as KTM’s factory test and wild card rider, showcasing his expertise on the RC16 machine in select races.
