Aleix Espargaro expresses his enthusiasm for the new 2024 Aprilia MotoGP machine despite acknowledging its challenges, emphasizing that improved speed is his primary concern.
Aleix Espargaro, who secured impressive results during testing at Sepang and Qatar, including setting a rapid Sprint simulation, welcomes the competitive edge of the updated bike, even if it poses difficulties in handling.

Regarding the new machine, Espargaro remarks on its increased downforce, which enhances stability but also adds weight, making it more challenging to maneuver, particularly when grip levels are low. However, he emphasizes that improved lap times outweigh the challenges posed by the bike’s characteristics.
Despite the complexity of the 2024 Aprilia, Espargaro expresses satisfaction with his performance during testing, highlighting his strength in maintaining pace with used tires. He credits various updates to the bike, particularly in aerodynamics and chassis rigidity, for enhancing stability and lap time consistency.
However, Espargaro notes that engine performance remains a concern, and the true test of the 2024 Aprilia’s capabilities will come during actual race conditions.
Nevertheless, with promising results from testing at different tracks, Espargaro remains optimistic about the season ahead, highlighting the importance of feeling comfortable and competitive from the outset.
As the season-opening Qatar Grand Prix approaches, Espargaro looks forward to translating his testing success into race performance, buoyed by the positive strides made with the new Aprilia machine.
