Sean Strickland is refusing to back down from the insults directed at Ian Machado Garry and his wife, Layla, stating that Garry himself made his wife a prominent part of the promotion for his fights, justifying the verbal attacks. Strickland defended his choice to target Garry and his wife. Citing Garry’s actions, such as wearing a t-shirt featuring Geoff Neal’s mugshot alongside his wife.
“You went out and put your wife front and f****** center,” Strickland expressed. “You made her design a shirt. You made her f****** hold the baby while you wear it laughing. You put her front and center.”
While Strickland acknowledged some subjects should be off-limits in trash talk, he argued that Garry’s actions made Layla fair game. The verbal exchanges intensified after Strickland called Layla a “sexual predator” due to the age difference between her and Garry. Garry responded, expressing a desire to fight Strickland for the disrespectful remarks about his family.
Strickland, undeterred, continued to criticize Garry, calling him a “f****** c***” and expressing his disdain for Garry’s reactions. Despite potential backlash, Strickland showed no regret, stating that he can handle criticism and that he won’t change his approach, even if he becomes a target.
“If one day I wake up and cuck Ian Garry and everybody hates me, do you think I give a f***?” Strickland said. “You think I give a f*** if I walk down the street and someone says there’s Sean Strickland, f*** him. I don’t care. Enjoy, motherf*****.”
Strickland emphasized that while he can dish out insults, he can also take them, and he won’t shy away from online criticism.
