Matt Brown Criticizes Ronda Rousey: ‘Show a Little Bit of F*cking Humility

UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey has been vocal about her fighting career while promoting her autobiography. Discussing her multiple concussions and impact they had on her career, including crucial one before her loss to Holly Holm. She has also expressed feelings of being vilified by the MMA media and believes she would face boos if she attended a UFC event.

Recently retired UFC legend Matt Brown has criticized Rousey for her complaints. “What’s the problem? Maybe people have said bad things about you. Welcome to being a human. Welcome to being famous. What did you expect?” Brown said on “The Fighter vs. The Writer” podcast.

Brown argued that Rousey’s long list of reasons for her losses, including concussions, are excuses that fail to acknowledge her opponents’ skills and challenges. “Even if you were injured, it’s an excuse. If someone brings it up and the first thing you talk about is how injured you were, it’s purely an excuse,” Brown stated.

Brown also pointed out that other fighters, including Holm, likely faced their own issues and injuries. “Like when she fought Holly Holm, I bet if we talked to Holly she’d be like ‘yeah, I had this injury and this injury.’ How do we know she didn’t have a concussion?” he added.

Brown believes Rousey’s inability to accept her losses and her tendency to blame external factors has led to her falling out of favor with fans. He suggested that showing humility could significantly improve her public perception. “Show a little bit of fcking humility and everybody would be bowing down to her again. Hire a fcking PR person! Just say the shit and the world is yours again,” Brown said.

Brown emphasized that the struggles Rousey faced are common among fighters and that her failure to handle the pressures of fame and competition is not unique. “This embodies the everyday struggle of a fighter. You’re just not a fighter,” Brown asserted. He believes that Rousey struggles because she is not mentally prepared for the big stage.

Despite his criticism, Brown acknowledged that fans still want to support Rousey. “Most of the MMA world wants to love her. She has all of the right qualities, but she pushes us away. I think every fan wants to love her,” he concluded.

In summary, Brown suggests that Rousey needs to show humility and stop making excuses to regain the support of UFC fans and the MMA community.
