Former UFC lightweight champion remains steadfast in his decision to retire from mixed martial arts, dismissing any possibility of a comeback for the historic UFC 300 event. Despite the promotion’s efforts to secure marquee matchups for the milestone show, including reaching out to his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, Nurmagomedov maintains his stance.

In an interview with MMA Junkie during an appearance for Class A Events in Canada, Nurmagomedov reiterated his retirement decision, emphasizing his promise to his late father. After defeating Justin Gaethje in October 2020, Nurmagomedov vowed to his mother that he would never fight again without his father’s presence, who passed away in July 2020.
While acknowledging communication attempts through his manager, Nurmagomedov made it clear that his retirement stands firm since October 2020. Despite the allure of UFC 300, he remains resolute in his decision to step away from professional fighting.
UFC 300, scheduled for April 13 in Las Vegas, will feature a light heavyweight title fight between champion Alex Pereira and former champion Jamahal Hill, as Nurmagomedov continues to stand by his retirement commitment.
