Colby Covington Remains Undecided on Potential Fight with Ian Machado Garry: ‘He Needs to Prove Himself’

Colby Covington is still weighing his options for his next bout after his recent setback against Leon Edwards.

“I think that’s when they’re planning for me, International Fight Week,” Covington told TwinsPod. “Just trying to figure out who who’s gonna be the guy.”

Expressing his desire to settle unfinished business with Edwards, Covington acknowledges the need to face another opponent first due to his injury in the previous fight. However, while Ian Machado Garry appears to be a viable option, Covington remains hesitant to commit to the matchup.

Referring to Garry as “a nobody,” Covington emphasizes the importance of Garry proving his seriousness about the fight. Despite Garry’s eagerness and responses, Covington highlights Garry’s absence from a press conference as evidence of his lack of commitment.

“There’s this kid that’s been calling me out,” Covington said. “This kid, Ian Garry, he’s a nobody. I gave him some stipulations and said, ‘Hey man, if you wanna fight me, you have to show me you’re serious about business.'”

While Garry has been making waves in the welterweight division with his undefeated record. Covington remains cautious about committing to the matchup until Garry demonstrates his dedication to the fight.
