Invicta Fighting Championships will return to action on December 13 for Invicta FC 59 at The Eastern in Atlanta, featuring a highly anticipated bantamweight title fight between Talita Bernardo and Jennifer Maia. A win for Maia would make her one of the few fighters to hold Invicta titles in multiple divisions.
Maia (22-10-1), who rejoined Invicta FC in August with a decision victory over Mayra Cantuaria, has earned the opportunity to challenge for the bantamweight crown. Maia is a former Invicta flyweight champion, having won the interim flyweight title in 2016, later claiming the undisputed title and successfully defending it twice. After leaving the UFC in 2023 with an even record of six wins and six losses, Maia returned to Invicta FC, where she will now look to capture a second championship.
Bernardo (11-4), who claimed the bantamweight title in 2023 with a win over Taneisha Tennant at Invicta FC 51, is riding a five-fight win streak, including three submission victories in the second round. The Brazilian fighter successfully defended her title at Invicta FC 55, submitting Olga Rubin in her first defense. Like Maia, Bernardo also competed in the UFC but had a mixed record of one win and three losses.
