Pat Brown Signs Long-Term Deal with Matchroom Boxing Ahead of 2025 Debut

Team GB Olympian Pat Brown has officially signed a long-term promotional contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and will make his professional debut in 2025, competing at cruiserweight. They will broadcast his debut live worldwide on DAZN.

The 25-year-old from Manchester, known for his explosive and aggressive fighting style, will train under the guidance of renowned coaches Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis at the V.I.P Gym in Astley. Brown will join a strong lineup of Matchroom talent, including Jack Catterall, Cameron Vuong, and Conner Tudsbury.

Brown’s rise through the ranks of British boxing has been rapid. He joined the Great Britain setup in 2022, and his heavy-handed approach quickly made him one of the standout prospects in the country. Born in Sale, Brown’s boxing journey began at Sale West Amateur Boxing Club at the age of seven, inspired by his love for the sport and the example set by local legend Ricky Hatton.

By 2019, Brown had become a two-time North West Champion, and in 2021, he joined the prestigious Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club. That year, he won the heavyweight title at the England Boxing National Amateur Championships, marking him as a rising star in the boxing world.

A dedicated Manchester United fan, Brown’s hard work paid off in 2022 when he secured a spot on the GB Boxing Podium Squad. He went on to win his second national championship, further cementing his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in British boxing. In 2024, he earned his place in the Paris Olympic Games after defeating Poland’s Mateusz Berenicki in March. Brown’s Olympic run ended in the opening round when Brazil’s Keno Machado knocked him out, a silver medallist at both the Pan American Games and World Championships.

Reflecting on his decision to sign with Matchroom, Brown said: “Since meeting with Eddie and Frank for the first time, it was clear that our visions aligned. Matchroom was always my first choice, but I had to consider all my options. After some really exciting discussions, it was a no-brainer to go with them.”

Brown’s ambitions are clear: “There are some huge fights to make, and my dream has always been to sell out arenas and bring back the Ricky Hatton days in Manchester. That’s what drives me—good wars and exciting boxing. Watch this space, I’ll be coming for it all.”

Eddie Hearn, Chairman of Matchroom Sport, expressed his excitement about the signing: “Pat Brown is a fighter with massive potential. His aggressive, all-action style and approachable personality outside the ring make him a future star of British boxing. We believe he can bring the big nights back to Manchester and beyond. With a top-tier team around him in Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis, we’re thrilled to begin this journey with him in 2025.”

Sam Jones, Brown’s manager, also shared his enthusiasm: “Pat is undoubtedly the biggest signing to come out of the Team GB squad, and this is a huge coup for Matchroom. His style will bring back the glory days of British boxing, and his down-to-earth nature will resonate with fans. We can’t wait to start this exciting journey.”

Pat Brown’s journey into the professional ranks is set to be one of the most anticipated in British boxing, with fans worldwide eager to see his explosive style in action.
