Swedish fighter Alexander Lööf (7-2) is gearing up for a pivotal matchup at Cage Warriors 180 on Friday, where he will face Weslley Maia (9-6) in what could be a stepping stone toward a potential title shot in 2025. Lööf, known for his thrilling 2023 “Fight of the Year” performance against Luke Riley and his standout appearances in the PrizeFighter tournament, has quickly made a name for himself in the Cage Warriors promotion.
In an exclusive interview with Frontkick, Lööf shared his thoughts on his upcoming opponent, Maia: “Maia is next in line. I don’t know much about him except that he has an impressive win in the PFL against an undefeated 8-0 fighter,” Lööf said. “He also stood out in PrizeFighter as one of the more entertaining competitors.”
Originally, Cage Warriors 180 scheduled a bantamweight championship bout featuring titleholder Liam Gittins against PrizeFighter winner Shirzad Qadrian. However, that fight was cancelled due to injury, leaving uncertainty about the future of the title matchup. Lööf, who had been closely following the championship fight, is now eyeing the possibility of a title shot himself, should he defeat Maia.
“There are rumors that the winner of my fight with Maia could be next in line for the belt,” Lööf revealed. “But regardless of the outcome, my focus remains on performing at my best.”
With a win, Lööf could be in position for a title fight in 2025, but for now, he focuses solely on delivering an exciting and entertaining performance for the London crowd. “We will go in and focus on what we do best: entertain to the max,” he added.
As Lööf prepares to take the next step in his Cage Warriors career, all eyes will be on him this Friday as he takes on Weslley Maia.
