Red Bullโs technical director Pierre Wache has made it clear that the team wonโt “throw away” the 2025 Formula 1 title fight ๐, even as teams prepare for major regulation changes in 2026.
๐ Balancing 2025 & 2026 Development
With strict financial and aerodynamic testing regulations ๐, F1 teams must carefully split resources between their current car and the 2026 challenger.
Some past teams gambled on future regulationsโBrawn GP (2009) & Mercedes (2014) dominated, while BMW Sauber (2008) abandoned a title fight for nothing.
But Red Bull is ready to battle it out ๐ช against McLaren, Ferrari & Mercedes in 2025, instead of shifting focus entirely to 2026.
๐ข Pierre Wache stated:
๐ โIf we have a chance to fight for the championship in 2025โand I think we willโthen you will never throw away a championship.โ
๐๏ธ Wind Tunnel Boost for Red Bull in 2025

Despite Max Verstappen winning his 4th consecutive title ๐ in 2024, Red Bull lost the Constructorsโ Championship to McLaren & Ferrari.
But thereโs a silver lining โจโaerodynamic testing restrictions ๐ ๏ธ are based on 2024 standings, meaning Red Bull gets more wind tunnel time than its rivals:
๐ Wind Tunnel Runs (Jan-June 2025)
| ๐ Team | ๐๏ธ Runs Allowed |
|---|---|
| ๐ด Red Bull | 768 |
| ๐ McLaren | 672 |
| ๐ Sauber (Last Place) | 1,104 |
Wache admitted this could be a big advantage ๐ for their 2026 project, but cautioned:
๐ โMore wind tunnel time or money doesnโt guarantee success. Otherwise, teams at the back would always be first next year.โ
๐ Red Bull’s Strategy: Title Fight First, Future Later!
Red Bull will begin 2025 with a strategy ๐ฏ, but Wache hinted it may evolve depending on what they discover in 2026 development.
