A series of crucial tests at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will help Lewis Hamilton continue his integration into the Ferrari Formula 1 team. Over the next 10 days, Hamilton and his teammate, Charles Leclerc, will engage in five days of testing, focusing on acclimating to the Scuderia’s machinery and further solidifying their partnership.
Ferrari’s test schedule kicks off with a three-day session from January 28 to 30, where they will run the SF-23 from the 2023 season. This test will take place under the FIA’s updated “Testing of Previous Cars” regulations, which limit teams to 1000 kilometers per year over four days. The session will allow Ferrari to optimize their preparations before the season begins, with Hamilton and Leclerc aiming to cover a maximum of 186 laps (866 km) during this time.
While a previous shakedown session on January 22 at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit was interrupted by rain and fog, the Barcelona test is expected to provide more substantial running time. The forecast predicts cool weather conditions in Barcelona, with temperatures ranging from 3°C (37°F) to 13°C (55°F), and showers expected on Thursday afternoon.

Following this, Ferrari will participate in a Pirelli tire test at Barcelona on February 4-5, aimed at evaluating prototype rubber for the 2026 technical regulations, which include narrower tires. During this session, Ferrari will run a modified SF-24 that aligns closely with the new rules, offering Hamilton an opportunity to further familiarize himself with the team’s equipment.
Meanwhile, McLaren will also be conducting a Pirelli tire test at Circuit Paul Ricard on January 29-30, ahead of their own Barcelona session, where both teams will share valuable insights into tire performance as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Hamilton’s ongoing testing with Ferrari marks an important step in his transition to the Scuderia, and the coming weeks will be pivotal in ensuring his seamless integration as he aims for success in the 2025 F1 season.
