Lando Norris expressed frustration following the F1 Canadian Grand Prix. Believing that he could have won the race if not for a strategic misstep by his team. Despite overtaking Max Verstappen and George Russell to lead the race. Norris found himself behind after a safety car was deployed due to Logan Sargeant’s crash.

Norris claimed that he had ample time to pit for fresh intermediates before the safety car was called. Which would have allowed him to retain his lead. However, the team’s decision to delay the pit stop resulted in Norris falling behind Verstappen and Russell, ultimately finishing third.

“We should have won the race today and we didn’t,” Norris stated. “We had the pace, but we didn’t do a good enough job as a team to make the right call.”

Norris emphasized that the team’s failure to pit at the opportune moment was not a matter of luck but rather a strategic error. He acknowledged that the decision-making process would be reviewed internally to prevent similar mistakes in the future.

Despite the setback, Norris noted that the team’s decision to keep him out for an extra two laps during the transition to dry tires almost allowed him to overtake Verstappen and Russell. However, he ultimately lost ground while warming up his tires.

Verstappen, on the other hand, jokingly remarked that the strategic blunder was payback for a similar incident in Miami. Where Norris capitalized on a safety car period to secure victory.

Overall, both drivers acknowledged the unpredictable nature of racing and stressed the importance of remaining calm and making informed decisions under pressure.
