The MCL38, McLaren’s 2024 challenger, inherits some weaknesses from its predecessor, notably in long-corner performance and DRS efficiency affecting top speeds. While the team plans to introduce upgrade packages around the Miami or Imola rounds in May, Team Principal Stella cautions that fully addressing these weaknesses may require another 12 months of development.
Stella emphasizes the team’s satisfaction with the rate of development over the past year but acknowledges the ongoing process of refining the car’s performance. McLaren’s development roadmap includes multiple upgrade cycles throughout the season, with the goal of gradually eliminating weaknesses and enhancing overall competitiveness.
