McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris shared their thoughts on a day of limited track action during practice sessions at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Piastri commented on the challenging conditions, stating that while there weren’t many laps completed. He managed to gain some valuable experience towards the end of FP2. Despite the lack of representative laps, he feels the team is in a decent position and aims to extract as much information as possible from the available data to prepare for qualifying.
Norris echoed similar sentiments, expressing disappointment over the minimal track time due to a Red Flag in the morning session and rain in FP2. However, he remains optimistic about the team’s performance, believing they are in a reasonable position with the car. He looks forward to maximizing the final practice session before heading into qualifying.
Team Principal Andrea Stella acknowledged the challenges posed by the limited running but remained hopeful for a busier track schedule in the upcoming sessions. He emphasized that the situation presents both challenges and opportunities for the team to adapt and capitalize on the unknowns in terms of car setup and tire behavior.
Despite the setbacks, McLaren remains focused and determined to make the most out of the remainder of the weekend at the Suzuka circuit.
