Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton announced in February his decision to join Ferrari in 2025, activating an exit clause in his original contract with Mercedes. Despite ongoing debates about the competitive differences between Mercedes and Ferrari, Hamilton remains steadfast in his conviction that the only opinion that matters is his own.
Reflecting on his decision ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, Hamilton emphasized that he doesn’t seek validation from Mercedes’ current struggles. He reiterated his confidence in his choice, drawing parallels to his decision to join Mercedes in 2013 despite skepticism from others.
Hamilton dismissed the notion that Ferrari’s current performance justified his move, asserting, “There’s not been a moment where I’ve questioned it, and I’m not swayed by other peoples comments.” He emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself amid external opinions.

In response to recent inquiries about his transition to Ferrari, Hamilton openly expressed his frustration and called for more thoughtful questioning. Nevertheless, he reaffirmed his dedication to Ferrari as a long-term endeavor, envisioning a career trajectory akin to Fernando Alonso’s, with plans to continue racing well into his 40s.
Hamilton reflected on the unpredictability of life and his evolving perspective on age, stating, “I never thought that I’d be racing into my 40s.” Despite nearing 40, he feels youthful and energized by the journey ahead.
