West Ham Eyeing Wolves’ Max Kilman Amid Potential Departure of Aguerd to Saudi Pro League

David Moyes’ Defensive Overhaul Includes Max Kilman Amidst Speculation Around Nayef Aguerd’s Exit

West Ham is reportedly eyeing Wolverhampton Wanderers’ centre-back Max Kilman as a potential defensive addition, contingent on the sale of Nayef Aguerd to the Saudi Pro League.

David Moyes, aiming to strengthen his defensive lineup, is considering a move for Kilman, who has been delivering strong performances for Wolves. However, acquiring Kilman may prove challenging as the player signed a new five-year deal last summer. Wolves, reluctant to lose a key player mid-season, might demand at least £40m for the 26-year-old.

West Ham, facing budget constraints this transfer window, has emphasized. That new signings will be dependent on funds generated through player sales. Despite the financial challenges, Moyes is keen on securing Kilman and making adjustments to the team’s defensive structure.

Aguerd, who joined West Ham from Rennes for £28m in the summer of 2022, is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. The Moroccan center-back, currently involved in the African Cup of Nations, has faced criticism for errors during the current season.

Moyes, likely to sign a new two-and-a-half year deal soon, is open to replacing Aguerd if a suitable option becomes available. West Ham’s defensive targets also include Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest, and Ronnie Edwards from Peterborough. Moyes, known for his preference for Premier League-proven players, sees Kilman as a fitting addition to the squad, enhancing the number of homegrown talents.

Furthermore, West Ham is considering a left winger and keeping an eye on Steven Bergwijn from Ajax. Discussions with the former Tottenham player aren’t progressed. Other targets include Sunderland’s Jack Clarke and Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike. West Ham is open to offers for Saïd Benrahma and Pablo Fornals. Meanwhile, there are reports of Wolves’ interest in arranging a loan deal for former Aston Villa striker Danny Ings.

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly close to finalizing a loan deal for Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen, with ongoing talks. While Burnley pursued Maatsen with a £31.5m offer last summer, a loan to Dortmund seems more likely at this stage.
