Wayne Rooney has embarked on a new venture as a pundit on The Overlap.
The 38-year-old will feature on the YouTube channel alongside former Manchester United teammates Gary Neville and Roy Keane, alongside Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, and Ian Wright.
In an announcement shared on social media, Fabrizio Romano revealed the news, stating: “Breaking news in the world of football… Here we go! Manchester United, Everton, and England legend Wayne Rooney has inked a deal with The Overlap. The agreement is finalized and signed.
“Rooney will join his friends and ex-teammates Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and the rest of the team, making his debut very soon. Wayne Rooney to The Overlap, here we go!”
Rooney later confirmed the announcement, expressing his excitement: “I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be teaming up with my good mate Gary Neville and The Overlap crew to feature on their fantastic shows on YouTube and the podcast. I’m eager to get started – head over and subscribe now!”

Rooney, who made a guest appearance on The Overlap in March, was relieved of his managerial duties at Birmingham earlier this year after less than three months in charge. Following his retirement from professional football in January 2021, he had managerial stints at DC United and Derby County.
Throughout his illustrious playing career, Wayne Rooney netted over 350 goals and clinched 12 major honors. Including five Premier League titles with Manchester United.
Since his departure from Birmingham, Rooney has delved into punditry. Contributing to ITV’s coverage of Manchester United’s FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest and appearing on Sky Sports during Everton’s win over Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.
Although he was scheduled to debut on Match of the Day last month. A back injury suffered during a family holiday forced him to withdraw. Rooney expressed his disappointment on social media, vowing to join the team in the near future.
