The United States (US) women’s national football team, the reigning Olympic champions, will compete against Japan, Australia, and Colombia in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, US Soccer announced on Wednesday.
This marks the 10th edition of the prestigious tournament, which will feature a round-robin format spread over three days, with six matches in total. The team accumulating the most points will be crowned the winner, with goal difference, total goals, and head-to-head results used as tiebreakers if necessary.
The 2025 SheBelieves Cup will be significant for the US women, as it will be their first home competition ahead of their qualification campaign for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The team has won the past five SheBelieves titles and seven overall, further cementing their dominance in the tournament.
“This will be my first SheBelieves Cup, but I’ve followed the tournament closely, and it always delivers tight, competitive matches between top teams,” said US head coach Emma Hayes. “All four of these teams participated in the last World Cup and Olympics, and they are all focused on qualifying for the next World Cup. Playing three games against talented teams in a format that mirrors the group stages of a global competition is invaluable for our preparation.”
The tournament will kick off on February 20 in Houston, with the US women facing Colombia and Japan taking on Australia. The action continues on February 23 in Glendale, Arizona, as the USA meets Australia and Japan plays Colombia. The final round of matches will take place on February 26 in San Diego, with the US women facing Japan and Australia taking on Colombia.
