St Mirren Manager Stephen Robinson Signs Contract Extension Until 2027

St Mirren Football Club has announced that manager Stephen Robinson has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the helm until 2027. The Northern Irishman, who took charge of the club in February 2022 after leaving Morecambe, has achieved significant success during his tenure, leading the team to consecutive top-six finishes in the Scottish Premiership.

Under Robinson’s leadership, St Mirren has reached their highest league positions in nearly 40 years and qualified for European competition for the first time since 1987. However, the team has faced recent challenges, suffering three consecutive losses in the league and currently sitting in eighth place—just three points above the relegation zone.

Robinson expressed his satisfaction with the club, citing their “good ideas and medium-term vision” as key factors in his decision to extend his contract. “I’m very happy here. We’ve had massive success over the last two-and-a-half seasons,” he stated. “I felt it was the right time to commit and hopefully keep moving in the right direction.”

Despite the recent downturn in results, Robinson emphasized his belief in the club’s potential for growth. “We’ve had a few sticky results over the last few weeks where things haven’t gone our way, but we’ve got a lot of belief in the club, what we do, and I’m happy to try and push the place forward,” he added. “It’s important for a club of our size to make forward-thinking decisions and forward planning, and I’m very appreciative of the board’s support.”

St Mirren chairman John Needham praised Robinson’s contributions, highlighting his pivotal role in the club’s strategic goals to enhance its strength and stability. “Extending his contract at this time reflects our ambition to maintain the levels of success we’ve enjoyed on the park over recent seasons,” Needham said.

With Robinson now firmly committed to the club, St Mirren will look to turn around their fortunes and continue building on their recent successes as they strive for a brighter future in Scottish football.
