Following Manchester United’s defeat in the Manchester derby, Roy Keane expressed concern over the team’s tally of 11 Premier League losses this season, labeling it as a “scary stat.”
The loss to their rivals at the Etihad Stadium further damages United’s Champions League aspirations. Under Erik ten Hag’s management, United were expected to make progress, but instead, they seem to be regressing, raising doubts about the manager’s future.
The number of losses this season is worrying, marking the fourth time in the Premier League era that United has reached double figures in defeats. United’s record for most defeats in a season is 12, achieved twice before, and they could surpass that this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane remarked, “That’s 11 league games they’ve lost. That’s one scary stat when you consider where United are.” He pointed out United’s lack of energy, especially evident in the last 20 to 25 minutes of the Manchester derby, where Manchester City dominated.
Keane observed that while City’s substitutes injected energy and made a difference, United’s players seemed unable to keep up. He suggested that towards the end of the game, it could have been a heavier defeat for United.
Five of United’s losses occurred in their first 10 games, including unexpected defeats at home to teams like Crystal Palace and Brighton. December was another challenging month, with notable losses to Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.
Ten Hag remains optimistic about United’s prospects of climbing the table and securing a Champions League spot, targeting fifth place. Despite the setback, he believes they can turn things around and aims to win their remaining games to achieve their objectives.
