Romelu Lukaku unable to play Ireland friendly due to groin injury

Belgium’s star striker Romelu Lukaku will miss their upcoming friendly against Ireland due to a groin issue. Lukaku, who recently sat out a Europa League fixture due to a recurring hip problem, managed to play 85 minutes in Roma’s Serie A victory against Sassuolo last Sunday. However, Belgium’s medical team deemed him unfit for the friendly clash against Ireland, citing a slightly overloaded groin as the reason.

Despite his absence from training, Romelu Lukaku will still accompany the Belgian squad for their fixtures in Ireland and England. However, it remains uncertain whether he’ll be available for selection when Belgium faces England at Wembley next Tuesday. The Belgian Football Federation has yet to confirm Romelu Lukaku’s potential involvement in the match, as a spokesperson was not immediately reachable for comment.

With Euro 2024 on the horizon, set to unfold in Germany from June 14 to July 14, experts will closely monitor Lukaku’s fitness to ensure he can join Belgium’s campaign in the prestigious tournament.
