While Paris Saint-Germain refrained from organizing an official farewell for Kylian Mbappe in his last home game, the club’s supporters made sure their appreciation was felt.
Mbappe is on the verge of departing PSG as his contract nears its end. Although Real Madrid has yet to confirm the transfer officially. Mbappe himself declared that Sunday’s match against Toulouse would mark his final appearance at the Parc des Princes. Where he has played since his move from Monaco in 2017.
Despite PSG’s decision not to hold a formal farewell for the 25-year-old, fans took matters into their own hands. Ultras unveiled a tifo featuring Mbappe in PSG colors, demonstrating their affection for the club’s all-time leading scorer. Prior to the Toulouse fixture, Mbappe shared a heartfelt goodbye message with the supporters.
“I always said I would speak to you when the time came, and now I want to announce that this is my last year at Paris Saint-Germain,” Mbappe stated. “I will not be extending my contract, and my journey here will come to an end in a few weeks. My last match at the Parc des Princes will be on Sunday.”
Reflecting on his time at PSG, Mbappe expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences he had at the club, acknowledging both the highs and lows of his seven-year tenure.
In addition to Mbappe, goalkeeper Keylor Navas also bid farewell to PSG after announcing his departure. Navas, who joined the club in 2019, expressed gratitude for the support he received from fans throughout his time at the Parc des Princes.
Despite Mbappe’s goal in the match against Toulouse, PSG suffered a surprise defeat. Nevertheless, the club celebrated their third consecutive Ligue 1 title on the pitch, marking their 12th league triumph overall.
As the season draws to a close, PSG will conclude their campaign with away fixtures against Nice and Metz. Meanwhile, Mbappe’s former club Monaco secured a Champions League spot, ensuring they will join PSG in next season’s competition.
