Liverpool, the record 10-time EFL Cup winners, have drawn Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals of this year’s competition. The first leg will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the return leg scheduled at Anfield. This tie sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting encounter between two of the Premier League’s top sides.
In the other semi-final, Arsenal will face Newcastle United, with the first leg set to be played at the Emirates Stadium before the second leg at St James’ Park. The draw has sparked the intriguing possibility of a north London derby in the final, a scenario that would add even more excitement to an already thrilling competition.
While Spurs and Arsenal have never met in a major domestic final, they have faced each other four times in League Cup semi-finals (1968, 1987, 2007, and 2008), which adds further anticipation to the possibility of their rivalry being reignited at Wembley.
