Mikel Arteta has voiced his admiration for Thomas Partey and indicated his desire to retain the midfielder’s services following recent transfer rumors surrounding Arsenal.
Partey, who made his first start since August in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Luton, has returned from injury, providing a significant boost to the team for their upcoming matches. With his contract expiring in June 2025, speculation has swirled regarding his future, including potential moves to Saudi Arabia or Juventus.
Addressing questions about Partey’s future ahead of the Premier League clash against Brighton, Arteta emphasized the midfielder’s importance to the team: “He’d better have his head here, because we are playing for big things. That’s what we expect. We need him. He’s a top player and important for us.”

When asked about the possibility of a contract extension, Arteta reiterated his satisfaction with Partey’s current status: “He’s our player, he’s got one more year’s contract and I’m really happy with him.”
Partey himself expressed his commitment to Arsenal, stating, “My head is always here… I’m really happy every time I’m on the field.”
Regarding concerns about player fatigue, particularly with Bukayo Saka, Arteta remained optimistic: “No. I am super positive. I think he is going to fly and be so decisive.”
With Liverpool maintaining their lead in the title race, Arsenal will rely on players like Partey and Saka as they push for success in the remaining matches of the season.
