Manchester United Women’s manager, Marc Skinner, has committed to a one-year contract extension with the club, including an option for an additional 12 months.
Skinner, 41, who joined United in 2021, guided the team to their highest-ever league finish last season, securing second place, and led them to their maiden Women’s FA Cup final, where they narrowly lost to Chelsea.
Despite facing criticism amid a challenging season, Skinner’s future at the club has been solidified by the recent success of winning the Women’s FA Cup, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at Wembley.
Skinner has remained resolute amidst speculation about his tenure, expressing excitement about collaborating with new minority owners INEOS.
Reflecting on his contract extension, Skinner expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue his journey with Manchester United and highlighted the significance of securing the team’s first major trophy.

Matt Johnson, interim head of women’s football at Manchester United, congratulated Skinner on his extension, emphasizing the club’s support and optimism for the upcoming season.
While United may be out of contention for this season’s title, they have the chance to influence the outcome as they face title contenders Chelsea on the final matchday. A positive result for United could potentially impact the destination of the WSL title, adding further intrigue to their season finale.
