Despite reports suggesting that Liverpool’s players favor Pep Lijnders as Jurgen Klopp’s successor, the assistant coach has affirmed his departure from the club alongside Klopp.
Alan Brazil and Dean Saunders shared insights on talkSPORT regarding the players’ alleged preference for Lijnders to take over the managerial reins once Klopp departs at the end of the season. However, Lijnders has already addressed the matter, emphasizing that nobody can replace Klopp.
In response to questions about his potential continuation at Anfield after Klopp’s exit, Lijnders stated that he had already made it clear that he would be leaving with Klopp. He emphasized his loyalty to Klopp and the club’s owners, acknowledging that while he has received offers elsewhere, his commitment to Liverpool remains unwavering until the end of the season.

Klopp announced his decision to step down in January, citing exhaustion as a significant factor. The prospect of Lijnders taking the helm has sparked discussions among fans and pundits, with Brazil and Saunders highlighting the challenges of finding a suitable successor for a club of Liverpool’s stature.
Lijnders, who joined Liverpool in 2014 and played a pivotal role in their recent successes, initially worked under Brendan Rodgers before continuing his tenure with Klopp. Despite speculations, Lijnders remains focused on his current responsibilities at Liverpool until the culmination of the season, underscoring his dedication to the club’s ongoing endeavors.
