Liverpool have finalized a transfer agreement with Red Bull Salzburg for young talent Bobby Clark, ensuring a significant sell-on clause is included as part of the £10 million deal.
Clark, a 19-year-old midfielder, has been a target for the Austrian club all summer following his impressive performances with Liverpool. Pep Lijnders, the Salzburg manager, previously worked closely with Clark during his tenure as Jurgen Klopp’s assistant at Anfield, and will make Clark one of Salzburg’s most expensive acquisitions.
Clark joined Liverpool in 2021 from Newcastle’s academy for a seven-figure fee. Since then, he has made 14 appearances for the Reds. Including scoring his first goal in a Europa League match against Sparta Prague last season.
As part of the transfer, Liverpool will receive 17.5 percent of any future profits Salzburg makes on Clark, alongside the £10 million transfer fee. The inclusion of this sell-on clause was essential for the deal to proceed.
Clark made his Premier League debut last season in a narrow 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Although he was substituted before Darwin Nunez’s late winner, Clark expressed gratitude for Klopp’s support in his development. “It all comes from the gaffer and all players,” he said, praising Klopp for the confidence he instilled in him.

Clark’s departure follows that of Fabio Carvalho, who has also left Liverpool, moving to Brentford in a deal potentially worth up to £27.5 million. Carvalho’s move highlights Liverpool’s ongoing squad adjustments.
Salzburg, under Lijnders, are in the midst of a rebuild after missing out on the Austrian Bundesliga title last season. They are currently navigating Champions League qualifying, having advanced to the play-off round after overcoming Twente. Salzburg will now face Dynamo Kyiv, who secured their place in the play-offs with a victory over Rangers.
